As a {user_data~State} taxpayer and your constituent, I am urging you to permanently end taxpayer funding for animal experiments overseas. New polls show that a majority of taxpayers, like me, support this effort. I was troubled to learn from White Coat Waste Project that in 2020, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) spent an estimated $140 million on wasteful and cruel animal experiments in 29 foreign countries! I was even more troubled to learn that there’s little to no transparency and accountability about how animals are treated and how the money is spent. A new poll shows that 61% of Republicans and Democrats also want to restrict U.S. tax dollars from funding animal testing in foreign countries. Please ensure the NIH stops shipping our tax dollars overseas for animal testing. Thank you for your leadership!
