As a {user_data~State} taxpayer and pet owner, I was outraged to learn that my tax dollars have been used to torture cats in experiments conducted and funded by the National Institutes of Health and other agencies.

According to documents obtained by White Coat Waste investigators:

•	The Dept. of Veterans Affairs wasted $5 million to cripple and asphyxiate kittens.
•	The NIH shipped over $500,000 to a lab in Russia that cut apart cats’ brains and forced them to run on treadmills. 
•	The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture wasted $22 million on “kitten cannibalism” experiments. It rounded up cat meat from China’s wet markets and fed it to kittens inside a federal lab. 5,000 kittens and animals were slaughtered and incinerated by your government.

Experiments like these are a misuse of my tax dollars. Many labs violate federal spending and transparency laws.

I hope you will join bipartisan efforts to enforce the law and hold all federal agencies accountable for wasteful and illegal cat and kitten experiments.
