Dear {contact_data~title} {contact_data~firstName} {contact_data~lastName},
I urge you to cut funding for the University of Missouri's (MU) barbaric and rogue experiments on beagles. I was troubled to learn from the White Coat Waste Project (WCW), a bipartisan government watchdog, that the NIH is wasting my money on new tick infestation experiments at MU: ~ Four-month-old beagle puppies are being fed to mutant ticks. ~ Many of the dogs are denied anesthesia or pain relief. ~ This project has received $11.4 million in tax dollars. Furthermore, I am alarmed by reports in the Columbia Daily Tribune and other media outlets that MU has violated federal law (i.e., the Stevens Amendment) by not properly disclosing its spending. Back in 2021, NIH found itself at the center of an international scandal when WCW exposed Dr. Fauci and NIAID’s funding of similar experiments, in which beagles were fed to insects in Georgia, Iowa, Tunisia, and other NIH-funded labs. This pattern of abuse is a key reason why Republicans AND Democrats in Congress have repeatedly demanded details about NIH’s wasteful spending on dog and cat tests in the USA and abroad and introduced bills to defund them. The NIH is lagging behind other agencies that have already stopped testing on dogs and cats. As a taxpayer and pet owner, I demand you stop wasting my money on these and other beagle experiments.
Thank you, {user_data~First Name} {user_data~Last Name} {user_data~City}, {user_data~State}
