Dear Dr. Bhattacharya,

I learned about the NIH’s septic shock beagle experiments from a White Coat Waste investigation—and I commend you for closing that dog lab on your campus.

But your NIH is still funding painful dog and cat labs at universities, corporations, and even foreign countries—all on my dime. I also learned from White Coat Waste that you recently renewed funding for Fauci’s beagle experiments—and this violates the Trump Administration’s mission to end wasteful spending.

During your tenure as Director, NIH is still the country’s single largest funder of testing on pets, including new payouts for:

- A Fauci-funded lab at the University of Missouri where beagles are eaten alive by mutant ticks

- Fauci’s deadly COVID infection experiments on cats

- Injecting puppies with fentanyl and cocaine

Animal experimentation is a fraud and a failure. You must defund it.

That’s also why I’m disappointed with your new “ORIVA” policy. There are NO spending cuts. There’s NO deadline. And NO phaseout of animal tests. That gives NIH an unlimited timeframe to send my hard-earned tax dollars to these pet abusers. (Translation: status quo.)

The best way to stop animal testing is to tear down NIH departments—and not build new ones.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is among the many members of the Trump Administration who has supported White Coat Waste efforts to end Fauci and NIH’s experiments on pets, along with other Trump cabinet members, the First Family, and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. Senator Rand Paul, Senate DOGE Chair Joni Ernst, House GOP Chairwoman Lisa McClain and others are working with White Coat Waste to cut NIH’s wasteful dog and cat testing.

The first Trump Administration and White Coat Waste made historic progress in ending government animal testing and specifically eliminating experiments on pets. I hope you take note and prioritize efforts to stop funding all testing on cats and dogs—now.
